Turkish columnist: Israelis were raiding houses in Turkey
Ibrahim Karagul, Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak columnist, was a guest on a conference entitled “Changing Balances and Turkey” in Youth Culture Centre which is in Istanbul. While he focuses on shifts in foreign policy rationale of Turkey, he expressed that pent-up dynamism of Turkey for a century are, now, becoming an active and this activation will arrange regional balances again as a transformative power.
As he begins his speech, he mentioned that up to the present, Turkey played a part in a global system on the basis of description and values which are shaped by dominant powers and today, in this new period, Turkey which has realized its own power will take a step on the basis of its own description and values.
While he put into words that western world which is under the leadership of US is living its last victory period, he underlined that because the value which holds together all the Western world is ‘Welfare Society’ ideal, after the last economic crisis, EU withdrawn to its natural boundary and it reduced its interests on global issues.
“After Iranian Islamic Revolution, Turkey has become the most important ally of the US in the Middle East. But after that, Turkey will not play this role and a tension between Israel and Turkey will deepen” Karagul said.
In addition to these, he talked about that Turkey was finished its problematic structure in which Turkey had problems with all neighbours and its only ally was Israel. On the other hand, according to his speech, despite isolation efforts of West on Iran, Turkey’s attempt on defence of Iran means that on the contrary of expectations, Israel will become isolated more and more. “Israelis was making an operation in Turkey in February 28th period. They were raiding houses in Istanbul. They even established listening posts in Syria boundary. But today, Israeli warcrafts cannot fly in Turkish airfield. There is also no visa between Turkey and Syria. Turkey is modernizing Syrian army.” he said.
