Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that unfortunately some EU leaders did not have a long-term vision on several matters.

Delivering a speech in the inauguration of the Enerjisa Bandirma Natural Gas Combined-Cycle Power Plant, Erdogan said that his government made good use of opportunities to make Turkey an energy base thanks to reasonable and proactive policies and recorded a great progress on the matter in the past eight years.

Erdogan said they successfully completed several important energy projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan.

"We are conducting significant projects on transferring natural resources in Central Asia and the Middle East to Europe. Turkey is moving on its way to become a key country in energy security with a great determination. Turkey also took important steps in wind and solar energy as well as nuclear energy," he said.

Erdogan said that they were ready to extend assistance to Europe in regard to energy.

Erdogan said that some leaders in the EU should develop policies based on a long-term vision. "Europe needs long-term vision and Turkey for energy and to prevent environmental pollution," he said.
