Dr. Mohammed Badie chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood, urged the Egyptian regime to return to its senses and acknowledge that Egypt is a country which belongs to all the Egyptians.

In a recent interview with the Shorouk newspaper Badie denied there were any contacts or agreements with any members of the ruling NDP and the MB. He claimed that it was impractical to conduct constructive conversations with the NDP maintaining it was unacceptable to collaborate with a party which depended largely on rigging in elections to acquire seats in both councils. He referred to the recent scandals which occurred in the midterm Shura elections which took place at the beginning of June where rigging the will of the Egyptians and intimidation was their policy

He compared the proceedings of the Shura elections with that of the MB's executive Bureau elections asserting that true democracy and consultation resulted in the running of free fair and transparent elections within the group.

Badie highlighted that during the MB's existence in parliament members contributed to approximately 55% of the significant discussions during the sessions including topics concerning domestic and foreign policies in addition to addressing widespread corruption and oppression.

He concluded his interview describing the MB's policy which relied largely on dialogue, reciprocated respect and democracy in all issues. He concluded no decisions were made without reference to the MB institution as a whole underscoring that they are still to decide on measures and proceedings regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled to be held in October this year
