The Jamaat e Islami chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, has expressed deep concern over press reports that the US officials have allowed CIA to expand drone attacks in Pakistan to hit low level fighters and termed it US declaration of war against this country.

In a press statement here on Friday, he said the expanded attacks were being justified on the basis of self defense. However, he questioned if the law in any country allowed indiscriminate targeting of unknown citizens and common workers without any legal basis.

Syed Munawar Hasan said in fact the US was bent on annihilating the tribal belt of this country by use of brute force taking advantage of the most cowardly government in Islamabad because this area could be termed as nursery for Jehad of which Washington was afraid of.

He said that the US had staged another 9/11 like drama of Faisal Shahzad and quickly decided to expand drone attacks on this pretext without any enquiry what so ever. On the other hand, Faisal Shahzad’s relatives were being arrested.

Condemning the US evil designs, he questioned if none of the civilized countries and those posing as Human Rights champions could stop the US from

violating the independence and sovereignty of a country on the basis of falsehood and presumptions, especially when her falsehood had already been exposed in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The JI chief also asked the Pakistani rulers and the parliament if they would indefinitely watch the genocide of innocent citizens and the destruction of their country at the US hand.

It was a pity, he said, that the rulers in Islamabad were in a tug of war with the country’s judiciary as was evident from the government statement made in the Supreme Court about the reopening of Swiss cases.
