Jamaat-e-Islami acting ameer Syed Munawar Hasan has said that US Defence Secretary Robert Gates' statement that US will continue strikes inside Pakistan wherever necessary for protecting its interests, was a declaration of war against Pakistan.

He was delivering Friday sermon at Mansoorah mosque, says a press release by JI Media Cell. Munawar Hasan expressed serious concerns that elected PPP government has badly failed to protect national borders and even the statement by COAS Gen Kiyani about countering US attacks proved to be mere statement since US drones are still killing innocent civilians in daring attacks.

Munawar said unabated US attacks proved that Washington cares least about Pakistan's sovereignty and loss of innocent lives, and has no respect at all for Pakistan's services as frontline ally in war on terror. Munawar criticized private foreign visits of president Zardari at this crucial juncture, saying the president is busy visiting foreign countries at a time when national security is under grave threats while on the other hand his government is struggling to dethrone PML-N's government in Punjab instead of respecting public mandate.

He demanded of president Zardari to clearly announce his policy regarding protecting national borders in his address to joint session of the parliament, and immediately end cooperation with US in war on terror by cutting off all supplies to US and Nato forces in Afghanistan. He warned that if government remained apologetic over American aggression any further then self respecting people from Khyber to Karachi will rise for the national defense and cut off US supply line through Pakistan themselves.

He also condemned Pakistan Army's operation against tribal areas violating the declaration of cease fire during Ramadan, saying at one hand Army is violating Ramadan sanctity and on the other it is killing its own citizens more than America. He warned that if military operation was not stopped than Pakistan army might find itself in terrible situation where it will be attacked by Americans from one sides and by tribals from the other. He said if COAS wants to defend the country against American attacks than he must stop military operation in tribal areas. He emphasized that complete unity between army and people could save Pakistan from foreign and internal enemies.
