Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed the joint military operation of Pak-US armies on both sides of Pak-Afghan
Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad has termed the joint military operation of Pak-US armies on both sides of Pak-Afghan border as shameful and anti-Pakistan.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad demanded immediate halt of military operation in tribal areas and cutting off the logistic supply of Nato forces, warning that otherwise JI will give call of demonstrations from Khyber to Karachi and take direct action by erecting barricades on the Nato supply line.
He was addressing a press conference at Mansoorah on Wednesday. JI Secretary General Syed Munawar Hasan, Director Foreign Affairs Abdul Ghaffar Aziz and acting information secretary Anwar Niazi were also present.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad took strong exception to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's expression of helplessness to stop US attacks, and said after this admission of defeat the PPP government should resign and hold fresh elections to elect such public representatives who could protect national security and sovereignty from US attacks. He also criticized president Zardari and Prime Minister Gillani for speaking to US in apologetic tone which is highly inappropriate for heads of a sovereign and independent state, and reflect a slavish mentality towards Washington.
To a question, Qazi sahib said JI will participate in the next elections. He said Prime Minister must advise the president to dissolve assemblies and hold fresh elections. He said none of the political parties got majority in recent elections which resulted in a continuous power struggle among the allies and among the federal and provincial governments. He cited that members of ruling allies are busy leveling accusations against each other while similar situation is there between the provincial governments.
Qazi Hussain Ahmad expressed serious concerns that due to implementing US agenda in the country the PPP government and army are fighting a US war against their own country in tribal areas, which has posed serious threats for country's security and solidarity, while the people are being pushed to deep frustrations and mental stress. He alleged that situation in tribal areas and NWFP is deliberately worsened and it seems that rulers and Establishment are involved in the conspiracy to further disintegrate the country.
Qazi sahib cited the situation in the length and breadth of the country saying Balochistan is already burning under a smoldering fire for many years, NWFP and tribal areas are being set ablaze under US dictation, and a conspiracy to trigger Pashtun-Mohajir riots is being implemented in Karachi in which MQM and ANP are equally involved. He said the whole country is in grip of serious economic problems with people suffering from price hike and unemployment are running from pillar to post for basic necessities. Qazi said corruption scandals and crises are hitting the country one after the other, while the rulers are busy in handing over the country to IMF and World Bank instead of investing their own foreign bank accounts inside their own country to revive the falling economy.
He said the tall claims of rulers to establish their writ in tribal areas through military operation are left completely exposed when they failed to restore the transmissions of cable TV channels in Karachi and Sindh. He said diplomats of friendly countries are being kidnapped and killed while the rulers see the entire situation helplessly from their heavily guarded palaces. He also referred to the recent recommendations of Council of Islamic Ideology (CCI) saying the sensitive issues are being deliberately provoked to promote the already boiling chaos in the country.
Qazi sahib said instead of implementing the joint resolution of the parliament, the government has now begun joint attacks with the US troops on the tribal people, which show amply clear that rulers are fighting a US war against their own people. He said now the military operation has been expanded to Mohmand Agency following the devastations in Waziristan, Bajaur, Darra Adam Khel and Swat. He said Mohmand people are being bombed with Gunship helicopters and heavy artillery, killing scores of innocent people and destroying their houses built with the lifelong earnings. He said tens of thousands of people have taken refuge in other areas of the province and lying under open sky in the shivering cold without any official help.
Referring to fresh US attack in Bannu area, Qazi said now the US has begun attacking urban areas of the country but the rulers are sitting with shameful excuses. He warned that if military operation was not stopped and US attacks were not halted then JI will give a call to hold protest demonstrations all over the country and appeal the people to block Nato supply line from Karachi to Khyber.

Who Educates Who?
I can list my objections to modern education:
1) The term “education” is used incorrectly in terms of both its definition and its goals.

It should be amply clear by now that the current Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu combines many of the characters that would make any human being detestable if not evil.

Turkey Seizes İts Moment
The assessment by veteran Israeli human-rights and political campaigner Uri Avnery of the recent Israel-Turkey diplomatic and political row - that "the relationship between Turkey and Israel will probably return to normal, if not to its former degree of warmth" - seems sensible and daring.
